Mrs. Anna Gonnello

Welcome! My name is Anna Gonnello and this is my fifth year working at Carteret Public Schools as a social worker for the Child Study Team. My office is at Carteret Middle School where I case manage and provide counseling services for our classified students in grades 6-8. I graduated from Drew University with a degree in Political Science and was recognized as an Edward J. Bloustein Distinguished Scholar and a Drew University Academic Recognition Scholar. I received my Masters Degree in Social Work from New York University's Silver School of Social Work where I was a member of the Phi Alpha National Honor Society. While a graduate student at NYU, I had the privilege of co-authoring a policy brief entiled Educational Opportunities for Undocumented Children in the U.S.: Why the DREAM Act Should Be Passed, which was presented in front of select members of Congress in Washington, D.C. I am currently a licensed social worker both in New Jersey and New York and a certified school social worker in New Jersey. I recently completed my clinical hours and hope to become a licensed clinical social worker in the near future. I have been in the field of school social work for nearly a decade and while it can be a challenging position, the rewards of the job are endless. I am proud of my work as a social worker and to be able to serve the children and families of our district - I am profoundly grateful to have found a profession where I get a chance to make a difference in a child's life each day. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our three children and our family dog. I also enjoy running, reading, trying new foods and traveling.
