Welcome to Mrs. Hayden's Page!

  • Hello and welcome to the world of Kindergarten! My name is Mrs. Hayden and I teach Kindergarten in Columbus School.  I hope you all had as relaxing of a summer as I did! This 2020-2021 school year is going to be filled with fun, learning, and excitement!

This year we will be using the Tools of the Mind program for literacy.  We will start with fairy tales for the first couple of weeks of school.  Then we will be following the journey's of Jack and Annie through the Magic Tree House Series.  Your child will be writing, dramatizing, and practicing self regulation daily! We will be using iReady math as our mathematics program.

Here is a little about myself.  I was born in Peru and moved to New Jersey when I was three.  Please don't hesitate to communicate with me in Spanish if that is more comfortable to you.  I was raised in South Jersey and went to Rancocas Valley Regional High School.  After high school I went to Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ.  I graduated with a degree in Secondary Education and Spanish and a masters in English as a Second Language.  Last year I added a degree in Elementary Education.  For my first 5 years of teaching, I taught ESL at Minue School.  Last year I came to Columbus School to teach Kindergarten.  During the summer,  I enjoyed traveling with my husband, trying new food, playing with my dog, and reading a good book on my hammock.

I'm very excited to start off this new school year with your child! I believe that if we all work together to help your child learn and grow we will be very successful! I share my classroom with two incredible paraprofessionals, Ms. Schorea and Ms. Shelmety.  They will both have an active role in our daily activities.

If you ever need to contact me please feel free to email me or message me on ClassDojo! I can't wait to meet all of my new Haydenites!
