Welcome to Ms. James's 8th grade ELA classroom!  This year we will focus on reading and writing using a variety of informational text, short stories and the novels, Harbor Me and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.  We use a combination of independent reading (Reader's Workshop), specific types of writing (Writer's Workshop), and lecture and technology instruction (I-Ready, IXL, etc.) to engage students in a varied classroom setting (with partners, groups, in rotations, etc). Please reinforce with your child the importance of coming to class prepared daily and do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.  I look forward to working with you and your child to have a successful year.
