Description of Teacher Evaluation
The Board of Education recognizes that the evaluation of tenured teaching staff members is essential to the achievement of the educational goals of this district. This policy and its accompanying procedures specify the rationale and methods for so doing. The purpose of this evaluation program shall be to promote professional excellence and improve the skills of tenured teaching staff members, improve student learning and growth, and provide a basis for the review of staff performance. Each tenured teaching staff member shall be evaluated annually by appropriately certified and trained administrators or supervisors against criteria from the Danielson Framework for Teaching, as well as the program objectives of each staff member's position as specified in the job description for his/her position. In addition, each tenured teaching staff member shall be evaluated against available indicators of pupil progress and growth. Carteret is in compliance with the NJAchieve guidelines and regulations.
