Mrs. Burnette
Welcome to the Carteret High School Nurse's Page! My students call me Mrs. B. I have been the Carteret High School Nurse for over 20 years! Many of your parents havebeen my students! My love for nursing started when I volunteered at Rahway Hospital as a teenager; I was a Junior at ALJ Regional High School in Clark. My yearbook said, "FUTURE NURSE". I knew early on that I wanted to make a difference by helping people. I went to Muhlenberg School of Nursing where I received a Registered Nurse Diploma with an Associate Degree in Science. I was honored to be the recipient of the "Florence Alice Held Award" for outstanding nurse in my class. I went on to study at Kean University, from which I obtained a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology, graduating with honors of Magna Cum Laude. My nursing career began at JFK Medical Center in Edison, working as a Medical Surgical Nurse. I was soon offered a position within the JFK Neuroscience Institute. I was privileged to be part of a new initiative and received training as a part of their Acute Stoke Management Team. I enjoyed my work, however, I was raising my children during those hectic years and I wanted to spend more time with my family. I decided to go back to school to obtain my School Nurse Certification and Teacher's Certification from Jersey City University. It was during that time I worked for MultiCare Heath Center in Clark.

Afterwards, I began my journey as the Carteret High School Certified Nurse, where I currently enjoy my position as one of the Nurse Co-Coordinators and the Coordinator of the district's Automatic External Defibrillators( AEDs) . As a member of JFK Medical Center's Training and Education Department, I spearheaded the district's CPR/AED Certification Program and enjoyed helping many staff, coaches, and students obtain the life saving skill of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation. I have had the privilege to be the Health and Safety Advisor for our Student's Safety Ambassador Program. I currently volunteer to assist CHS Seniors in the Future Medical Professional's Leadership Program for those who are interested to go into a Health Career."One hundred years from now it won't matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank...but the world may be a little better because I was important in the life of a child." Excerpt from "Within My Power" by F. Witcraft. All good things to you all!Mrs. B
