As the district Bilingual/ESL Parent Liaison, Mrs. Barrett’s primary role is to support, collaborate and work with parents, students and teachers of our Bilingual/ESL department.  

After parents/guardians complete their initial registration forms, any students whose Home Language Survey Form indicated a primary language other than English will meet with Mrs. Barrett. She will interview the family, review previous school records, and if applicable administer the Bilingual/ESL assessment (WIDA -WAPT, Screener, or the Model). This assessment will determine student eligibility into our Bilingual or ESL program. 

The Bilingual/ESL Parent Liaison office is always open for parents. We are here to help you with any concerns or questions regarding your child and their transition into the Carteret Public Schools. 

Throughout the school year this office hosts several meetings and gatherings to both inform and guide new parents and answer any questions or concerns you may face.
