• The Seal of Biliteracy acknowledges graduating seniors for their ability to communicate, read, and write in two or more languages. All juniors and seniors who have either enrolled in a World Language class for 2 or more years, or are Native speakers of a second langauge are eligible to apply for the Seal of Biliteracy.

     

    Students must demonstrate a proficiency of Intermediate Mid or above on listening, speaking, reading and writing in the World Language, in addition they must meet the State high school graduation requirements for ELA.

     

    Those students who attain the seal will receive a special insignia on their transcript as well as a Certificate of Biliteracy issued by the State of New Jersey Department of Education.

     

    Students in Carteret High School have received the Seal of Bilitearcy in the following langauges:

    • Spanish

    • Hindi

    • Arabic

    • Portuguese

    • French

    • Italian

    • Urdu

    • Punjabi.
