Hello everyone!

My name is Megan Ortega, and I'm one of the new English Language Arts teachers at Carteret Middle School. I am a graduate of Rider University with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, grades K-6th, and in English Literature. I was inspired to become a teacher by all of my previous English teachers, and years later I started following in their footsteps. 

I'm very excited to be working with your children this year. We will cover a variety of topics in both reading and writing, such as: styles of writing, citing textual evidence, grade- appropriate words and phrases, and reading a few novels throughout the course of the 2024-2025 school year. I'm looking forward to helping your children grow as readers, writers, and students. Respect and fairness are the two most important rules in my classroom. We need to respect one another, remain fair with one another, give chances, and receive equal opportunities to maintain a safe classroom environment. I cannot wait to see what this school year has in store for us!
