Mrs. Carolyn Welch
Hello and welcome to my Teacher Page!
My name is Mrs. Welch, and I am extremely excited to be your child’s virtual 4th Grade Teacher for beginning of the school year! A little bit about me: This is my 18th year teaching in the Carteret School District! I happily grew up in Carteret (as did both of my parents, and their parents as well)! I graduated from Carteret High School in 1998 and then went to Rowan University, where I knew I would study to become teacher. I knew I wanted to be a teacher since I could start talking. I graduated from college with a BA in Elementary Education and a BA in History. After graduation, I substituted for several months before I was given my first job as a Basic Skills Teacher at Nathan Hale School. I then taught computers for a few years and then became a First Grade Teacher. In 2009 I went over to Columbus School, where I taught 3rd Grade for several years!
For the past 5 years, I have been an Academic Enrichment Teacher for our RTI(Response to Intervention) program. RTI is a reading instructional model our district uses to address individual needs in learning how to read. A few years back, I was trained in the Orton Gillngham Program and have been teaching students this multisensory phonics program ever since! This year I was given the exciting job of teaching your child 4th Grade teacher. I look forward to using my experience from different positions and from using different programs to teach your child.
