Description
Welcome to C.P. U.S. History 1. This course involves an examination of American History, beginning from the establishment of the Jamestown settlement and continuing up to the cultures of the Native Americans of the Great Plains.

Course Objectives
1. Students will examine the political, social, economic, and cultural influences throughout history.
2. Identify the imprint of the World on the United States, and identify the imprint of the United States on the World.
3. Explore the various approaches and interpretations of American History.
4. Gain insight into current trends and problems in modern society through an examination of past experiences.
5. Students will conduct historical research that includes forming research questions, developing a thesis, investigating a variety of primary and secondary sources, and presenting their findings with documentation.
Text and Required Supplies
- Required Text: United States History, by Lapsansky-Werner, Levy, Roberts, and Taylor. (Provided by teacher)
- A 2-inch, three-ringed binder with filler paper. If not, a 3-subject notebook will suffice. (Provided by student)
- Pen (Blue or Black ink only, provided by student)
Grading Plan
Coursework will follow percentage set forth by the district.

- Listen
- To fellow classmates and teachers.
- Don’t interrupt or talk while another classmate or teacher is speaking.
- Prepare
- For class everyday, you must bring your required materials (book, binder/folder, and pen).
- Sit properly in your assigned seat.
- All homework/classwork will be handed in the HM/CW bin.
- NO FOOD is allowed in the room. ONLY WATER in a CLEAR BOTTLE is allowed.
- Lateness
- Lateness to Class Policy.
- Class officially begins at the bell. If you’re not in my room and in your seat at the bell, then you are late. If you do not have a pass signed by a teacher, you’re late. Consequences of being late will result in a loss of points to your participation grade.

- Late Assignment Policy
- When an assignment has been issued a due date, the said assignment is due that day and is considered late at the final bell of that class. If you DO NOT HAND IN an assignment, you must complete a STUDENT RESPONSIBILITY SHEET. You ONLY have the following day to complete the late assignment. IF NO STUDENT RESPONSIBILITY SHEET IS COMPLETED, assignment will be considered willful neglect and receive a 0, with no makeup possibility.

- Electronic devices will be limited to school assigned chromebooks. If you are caught with a device, I will ask for the item.
- Bathroom
- No one is allowed to use the bathroom the first 5 minutes and the last 5 minutes of class.
- Only one person at a time is allowed to leave the room for the bathroom. Students must sign their name out on the Bathroom clipboard.
- Absent Policy
a. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to find out what you have missed in class.
b. It is your responsibility to find a classmate who is willing to share the notes from the previous days' lesson.
c. If there are any handouts you’re missing, please check the class folder or Google Classroom
