Hello and welcome!
My name is Ana Maria Cunha and I am proud and honored to be an English as a Second Language teacher at Carteret High School for the past eight years. I grew up in Elizabeth, N.J. and graduated from Elizabeth High School. I moved to Rahway in 1986 where my husband of 38 years and I raised 3 amazing children. I earned an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Union County College, a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education from Kean University, and ESL certification from Rowan University. As a former ESL student myself, I understand the struggles and difficulties of acquiring a second language. I am passionate about working with English learners and strive to create a positive, fun, learning environment that will nurture growth in all areas of their development.
When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my family. We all love to go for a bike ride and have done the 15 mile Tour de Elizabeth. I enjoy walking, listening to music, and reading on the beach. I look forward to working with the parents and the amazing staff that strives to develop each student's growth.
